The exhibition catalog whoever brought me here has to take me home was designed in the context of the New York fellowship 2014, awarded by the Niedersächsische Sparkassenstiftung and the state of Lower Saxony.

Toulu Hassani’s work oscillates between sculptural pieces and painting. Impressions and experiences are translated into a complex and reduced matrix, which begins in the center of the work and transforms into planes with irritations and ellipses.

These aspects of Hussani’s work are subtly translated into the design concept: At times, the image is the central element of the page framed by text passages. In other instances, the gray value of the text is irritated through superscripted references in the text. The reduced structure of the book is designed to give ample (white) space to the sensible and complex work of the artist.
