Visual identity and Book design
Client: Scope e.V.

“In the sign of the flood of images and digitalization, artists always manage to produce their own astonishing image ideas, to surprise us, to seduce us and to challenge our perception. This challenge is central to Scope Hannover's second exhibition, entitled IN YOUR FACE, which unites very different positions in contemporary photography".
A visual identity was developed for the exhibition format, in which two very different fonts decisively influence the appearance. The experimental, angular and radical typeface BRRR by Swisstypefaces and the serif-stressed FF Scala, designed by Martin Majoor.
Within the printed matter, texts and images crowd together and/or into format. Texts are dropped or set vertically, images stand side by side, are tilted or go beyond the page. Alternating white spaces or condensation occur time and again.
The system for using the vertical, typographic axis results from the acronym IYF, which is used as an initial for the title InYourFace set one below the other within all media.
The design refers to the works of the artists presented, who interpret photography in an unusual, irritating and provocative way, "powerful, straightforward, direct and unembellished, beyond classical narrative and reportage formats".

210 mm x 310 mm, 96 pages, stitched brochure, published by Revolver Publishing under ISBN: 978-3-95763-425-2.
